Located in the foothills of the Himalayas, Rishikesh is the birthplace of yoga and a major pilgrimage site for Hindus. Meat and alcohol are forbidden by law but the chai flows like wine! This was the first place that made me fall in love with India, and the place I fantasize about being when I die. For the last couple of days I’ve been staying on the hipper, backpacker side, known as “Lakshman Jhule” (in referene to the bridge). Today I will head over to the more spiritual side to spend a few days at Parmarth Niketan Ashram.
